The Barber paternal DNA test results (Y-DNA, mtDNA and Family Finder) are held here, so anyone can get a test done and see if they match my results! The Family Finder test is proving very useful in locating distant relatives (typically 2nd - 5th cousins).
The WOOLGAR One-Name Study
Thomas WOOLGAR is my 5th x great grandfather on my mother's (TAYLOR) side of the family. Marion Woolgar has been researching the surname since 1990 with a particular focus in Sussex. Her research enabled this line to be extended back a further 100 years.
An illegitimate daughter, Jane BURGESS, was baptized on 1 October 1797 at Hellingly, Sussex, England. She was the daughter of John AKEHURST and Maria BURGESS . Jane is my 4th x great grandmother on my father's (BARBER) side of the family. This site is dedicated to the promotion of genealogical research of the A(c)(k)(e)hurst family name which has spread to the four corners of the World.
ADAMS Family History
This site contains a lot of research into the ASHURST/ASHHURST family in Brighton, Sussex. Rebecca Barber, my 4th x great aunt, married Robert Lewis ASHURST in Brighton thus making a connection to this family and creating descendants who link back to the older BARBER family.
STONER Genealogy Databases
The result of Alan Stoner's research into his family name. We share common ancestors with the marriage of Philip STONER and Elizabeth BLAND in 1802 at Cowfold, Sussex. Alan advises that we are related to Casey Stoner, the Australian world champion MotoGP rider, as he is also a descendant of Philip and Elizabeth Stoner.

Anne PENFOLD married into the family in 1769 at Cuckfield, Sussex.
Mandy Willard's Web Site
Most of the early WADEY information on this site (pre Luke WADEY and Priscilla HAYLER) came from Mandy Willard's web site. It contains a lot of information on many Sussex surnames.
A site specialising in the Funnells in Sussex. Eleanor FUNNELL married William MORRIS in 1846 in Uckfield, Sussex, eventually leading into the Barber line.
The Neve's of Utah, USA
An interesting history of a branch of the Ashdown family who became Mormons in the UK and then emigrated to Utah in the USA. The actual link was first suggested by DNA results, and later confirmed by identifying the Ashdown connection in our family trees.
Martha Gunn (1726-1815)
Brighton's most famous bathing woman. Our Elizabeth Gunn who married William Marchant in 1721 was an aunt to Stephen Gunn, husband of Martha. Reading Martha's biography tells you a lot about Brighton in the 1700s.

The Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC)
Leslie Robert William Barber was a member of the RAMC in WW1 and this site is dedicated to all RAMC soldiers.

The Rotherfield St Denys Church
The website has a history of this wonderful church and a family history section with details of burials and inscriptions. The church archivist is also very helpful.
theweald.org - Historical information about parishes and people of the weald of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. It is also starting to collect many pedigrees.
